Hi, my name is Jasmine Prokscha,
and I’m a rising second year law student at Loyola School of Law, Chicago. I’m
originally from Connecticut and went to undergrad at Drew University in New
Jersey. I’m very excited to work for the International Organization for Adolescents (IOFA) this summer, as ending human
trafficking is something that I am very passionate about. I first became aware
of the issue of human trafficking through a research project on the Bosnian
Genocide, where I learned that women, and quite a few teenage girls, had been
trafficked to Western Europe. My concern over human trafficking further grew
after interning at the United Nations, where I learned exactly how complex
prosecuting human trafficking is, and the legal issues surrounding it such as
how to prosecute international human trafficking rings, and the immigration
issues that victims face once they escape their traffickers. I hope to pursue a
legal career in which I can represent victims of human trafficking, and also
help effect the legislation that deals with how to treat these victims.
